Tuesday afternoon here

Hello to everyone
We are doing well here! I am very homesick today. Everything we have had to eat is so unusual to me, and very nasty really. Tony doesn't seem to mind.
Our apartment is very cute, but we are ready to go to Odessa. They say we might get our referral tomorrow so that we can take the train there and see our babies early Thursday morning. Im really hoping I do better there. I did not expect to be so homesick. I have half my kids with me so it really doesn't make since. I guess people not understanding me is getting really frustrating as well.
Tony and Grace went to bed at 3.00a.m. and slept until 2.30 . I did fine with that part of this trip. I adjusted well to the time change.
Well Im going to try to skype my daughter now so Ill write back tomorrow. Thanks, Leah

  1. We're glad you all made it safely and have a nice apartment. I know how you feel--everything seeming so unfamiliar and not understanding others or being understood is very unsettling. We were glad to have a few of our children with us, though it is hard feeling so without control. Psalm 139 helped me alot....reminding me that no matter how far away we were, God was with us...
"even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." When you get to your region, your facilitator/translator can help you find places to eat or food at the store. We found a place that actually served baked potatoes and pizza and soup--and we went there alot, as it was not very expensive; or we cooked at our apartment. It is quite an adventure--we learned that we had to try to go with the flow as much as possible (and PRAY alot) Praying that you will get your referrals without any problems and safe journey to your region.

  2. I would be homesick too, Leah. When we travel next year hopefully - we have to decide which if any kids to take with us. I will have to read your return blog to see how it went taking children! Just be safe and pray a lot for strength - you guys are doing just great!

  5. I'm so sorry that you feel so homesick! It is a totally different world over there, isn't it? Hopefully once you get to Odessa and meet your new little ones, you will be occupied and not missing home so much. Also, you will feel more settled, knowing you'll be there for a little while, and you can kind of relax a bit. It's hard living out of a suitcase! You will figure out which places has better stuff to eat (I'm very picky but I did figure out where to go in Kramatorsk for GREAT food!).

Hang in there, and remember IT'S NOT FOREVER!! You will be home soon with your beautiful new littles, and you'll have the most amazing memories!

    BIG HUGS TO YOU!!

  6. You don't know me, but I have a love for the Reece's Rainbow and I got on this morning to go back to look at Arthur whom my family just fell in love with and I was so thrilled to see he found his forever family. My daughter recently told her dr she wanted her mom to adopt a little brother named Arthur. lol. The Dr. said that's very specific. She fell in love with his face. She's 5. My Best friend who is also named Leah just returned last week from meeting her daughter in Russia. I will be praying for you guys and that everything goes great. God bless you!
